2019 "Road to the Little Mo Nationals"

Information on age eligibility is listed below.

Greetings!  We look forward to seeing you this year on the 22nd Annual "Road to the Little Mo Nationals".  The "Little Mo" Sectionals/Regionals/Nationals sites and dates are listed below. The "Little Mo" tennis tournaments are the premier challenge for youngsters across the nation to compete against others who are the same age at the sectional, regional, and national level.

All “Little Mo” tournaments are played with the yellow ball on a full 78’ tennis court, but there will also be a green dot option on full court for the 8's, 9’s, and 10’s divisions at the sectional level. Please note: The top 8 players from the yellow ball and green dot divisions will advance to the “Little Mo” Regionals, but all green dot players will need to play with the yellow ball at the Regionals as there will be no green dot divisions. Only the yellow ball winners from the Sectionals will be given priority for seeding at the Regionals.

Players can play in any "Little Mo" Sectionals and more than one if they wish, but must follow the path to the appropriate "Little Mo" Regionals (see list below). For example, a player who lives in Georgia may play in the "Little Mo" Texas but will need tfollow the path of the Texas sectional and play in the South Regionals.

·       Midwest, Middle States, New England, Northern, and Eastern Sectionals -------> North Regionals

·       Intermountain, Missouri Valley, and Texas Sectionals -------> South Regionals

·       Florida, Mid-Atlantic, and Southern Sectionals -------> East Regionals

·        Northern California, Pacific Northwest, and Southern California,  -------> West Regionals

Anyone who lives in the United States as well as U.S. Territories (i.e. Puerto Rico) can play "Little Mo".

Players from British Columbia, Canada are able to play in the Pacific Northwest Sectionals but are unable to advance to the Regional level.

Players must play their own age: 8's play 8's, 9's play 9's, 10's play 10's, 11's play 11's, and 12’s play 12’s. Eligibility is as follows:

·       12's - born in 2007

·       11's - born in 2008

·       10's - born in 2009

·       9's - born in 2010

·       8's - born in 2011 or 2012

The top 4 players from each Regional will advance to the "Little Mo" Nationals.  Each age division will have a prestigious draw of 16 in Boys and Girls 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.  The Nationals features the top 160 players in the USA.

Invitation to Dedication Ceremony

for "Little Mo" Commemorative Forever Stamp!

The Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation (MCB) is proud to invite you to the official United States Postal Service (USPS) First Day of Issue ceremony honoring Maureen Connolly Brinker! The USPS will be issuing a "Little Mo" Commemorative Forever Stamp on Tuesday, April 23, the same day that the stamp will be issued in 33,000 post offices nationwide. We hope you will join us at the Southern Methodist University Tennis Complex at 11:00 a.m. on April 23 for this special event, which is open to the public.

Following the ceremony (approximately 45 minutes), Brenda Brinker Bottum (MCB Vice President and daughter of Maureen Connolly Brinker) and Cindy Brinker Simmons (MCB President and daughter of Maureen Connolly Brinker) will be hosting a reception with light lunch fare. The USPS will also be setting up tables where interested guests can purchase the "Little Mo" stamp along with commemorative items.

Since parking is limited, we have arranged for all guests to park in either the Mustang Parking Center at 6001 Bush Avenue or on SMU's Bishop Boulevard. Shuttles have also been specifically assigned to take guests back and forth to the SMU Tennis Complex, where the dedication ceremony will be held, and returned to the two parking areas throughout the early afternoon. We encourage all guests to carpool with one another, if possible. We welcome our tennis families to share in this meaningful celebration honoring our beloved "Little Mo!"

If you are planning to attend, MCB would kindly ask for you to respond online at: www.usps.com/littlemo. Thank you so much, and we look forward to seeing you on April 23!

This issuance honors extraordinary tennis champion Maureen Connolly Brinker (1934-1969). The stamp art features an oil-on-linen painting of the tennis star by Gregory Manchess. Based on a black-and-white photograph taken in 1952, the portrait is a colorful interpretation of Connolly hitting a low volley. Nicknamed "Little Mo," the 5-foot-4-inch dynamo used powerful groundstrokes to become the first woman to win all four major tennis tournaments in a calendar year. Art director Derry Noyes designed the stamp.

"Mom would be thrilled and humbled with this amazing honor by the United States Postal Service," said Cindy Brinker Simmons, president of MCB and daughter of Maureen Connolly Brinker. "She was a remarkable woman who just happened to be a very good tennis player. Mom's career was over 65 years ago, and yet her esteemed legacy and significant impact continue to be highly recognized today. My sister Brenda and I are so incredibly proud of this astounding and touching tribute to her."

The “Little Mo” stamp flag is now flying over our office in Dallas
